The Membership magazine for RNIB.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss, that’s around one in 30 of the population. Vision is a bi-monthly magazine, produced for RNIB’s Members, providing news and information while acting as a mouthpiece for blind and partially sighted people. It’s produced in clear print (14 point) braille, email and on audio and DAISY CD. The audio version is produced as a radio-style programme with presenters and interviews recorded on location round the UK.
The majority of Members have sight loss themselves and the magazine is also read by carers, support workers and friends and relatives.
The magazine is a lively, lifestyle magazine with news on eye health, campaigns and other issues regarding with sight loss. It has popular letters pages where Members share tips and views, and a leisure section with audio book reviews and recipes. Vision is also a good place for Members to find out about help for living independently via personal stories, updates on new products and events from RNIB and other organisations.
“I absolutely love Vision magazine – it’s good for finding out about products, activities and all sorts of things.” (RNIB Member)
Each new edition of the magazine is flagged up on RNIB’s homepage, which receives around 250,000 visits a month, and also on FaceBook and Twitter. It is also previewed on RNIB’s Insight Radio, which has 85,000 listeners. In addition, RNIB’s Membership, and Vision magazine, is promoted at all major sight loss events around the UK, including Sight Village.
